Minister Clarifies Payment of Wage Subsidy to Employees
29 March 2020Commonsense has prevailed. The Minister of Finance has clarified that no employee should get more than their pre-COVID earnings.
For example if a person is working say 10 hours at $20 per hour they should only get $200 not $350. Similarly, a person working say 25 hours at $20 per hour should only be paid $500 not $585. Any surplus subsidy can be applied to wage support for other employees.
